Weekly Storytimes

  • Mondays at 10:30 am: Join us for stories, songs, and a craft!
  • Tuesdays at 12:30 pm, through March 28: Baby Sign & Play - Babies (0-18 months) and their caregivers will learn beginner sign language, read books and play together.
  • Wednesdays at 10:30 am: Come to sing songs and read stories! Program will be led by Jumpstart or Miss Frances.

Weekly Programs

  • Homeschool Fridays: Fridays at 10:30 am for ages 5+. A learning series for homeschoolers covering all the bases - from science to reading to writing.
    • March 24: Book Club - Read a picture book together and discuss it.
    • March 31: Remarkable Markers (science with markers)
    • April 7: Library closed for Good Friday
    • April 14: Flower/Color Play
    • April 21: LEGO® Bridge Challenge
    • April 28: Book Club - Title TBA

Special Programs

  • Virtual Reality: Trek to Machu Picchu, Peru: Friday, March 24 from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Community Room. Explore one of the Wonders of the World through the magic of Virtual Reality. Machu Picchu awaits! Please register to reserve a time slot.
  • Saturday Craft: Saturday, March 25 at 10:30 am. Join us every other Saturday morning for a craft.
  • Glowing Bounce Balls: Monday, March 27 at 4:00 pm for ages 10+ in the Community Room. Join us to create bouncing balls that glow in the dark. Please register.
  • Ocean Bingo: Friday, March 31 at 4:30 pm. Dive in to learn facts about the oceans' creatures and play bingo to win free books and other prizes!
  • Immersive Art - Cherry Blossoms: Saturday, April 1 at 10:30 am. Create a unique work of art to be displayed at the library during the month. We will supply the materials needed and will present picture books to gain creative inspiration from. Let the library be your muse!
  • Storytime at the Know Your Farmer Fair: Saturday, April 1 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Windham Community Center. Come find us at the annual Know Your Farmer Fair! We'll be doing a pop-up storytime table.
  • Springtime Art: Monday, April 3 at 4:30 pm for ages 6+. Use quilling (paper twirling) and other paper art techniques to make a springtime art scene.
  • Family Science Night: Owl Pellet Dissection: Thursday, April 6 at 6:00 pm in the Community Room. Families with school-aged children are invited to learn about owls and dissect the contents of an owl pellet. We'll have dissecting microscopes available to help you explore what you find! Please register.
  • DNA Workshop: Saturday, April 8 at 11:00 am for ages 8+. Work with biology students from UConn to extract DNA, learn about DNA and the process, and make some art with DNA patterns! Please register.
  • Pokémon Craft: Monday, April 10 at 1:00 pm. Start your school vacation with a Pokémon craft. Bring your Pokémon card collection to trade with library friends.
  • Chess Mates!: Monday, April 10 at 4:00 pm. Come by and play a game or two of chess. All levels are welcome to play. Instructors will be available to assist!
  • Science Lab Escape Room: Tuesday, April 11 from 1:00-4:00 pm. While you're touring a science lab, one of the scientists has gone rogue and trapped you all inside! Can you solve the science clues to find the code to unlock the door and escape before it's too late? This escape room is recommended for ages 6+ and will run approximately every half hour between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
  • Family Movie Night: Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00 pm in the Community Room. Youth and their families are invited to watch The Minions: Rise of Gru! We will serve popcorn and beverages.
  • Build Fairy Houses: Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 am for ages 6+ in the Community Room. Build a fairy house using natural materials found in the forest. Get a closer look at a variety of plant materials using our (new to the library) microscopes!
  • Make Jewelry or a Keychain: Wednesday, April 12 at 1:00 pm for ages 6+. Join us to create jewelry, a keychain, or more in our Makerspace.
  • Crafts with ECSU students: Wednesday, April 12 from 4:00-5:30 pm. Join Eastern's Future Educators Club members as they present spring themed crafts and stories.
  • Fantasy Scavenger Hunt: Thursday, April 13, all day. Fairies, dragons, gnomes, unicorns, oh my! Find them all and win a free book.
  • Yoga with YONO: Thursday, April 13 at 1:00 pm for ages 8-14 in the Community Room. Join Amanda for some fun yoga! Move your body and get in touch with your breath and all that you are capable of doing! Please register.
  • Positive Affirmations: Thursday, April 13 at 2:00 pm for ages 8-14 in the Community Room. Create positive affirmations for yourself with Ms. Frances.
  • Creative Worlds: Thursday, April 13 at 2:00 pm for ages 6-12. Using a role-playing game based on Dungeons & Dragons, we will work as a team to start the creative process of world-building and role playing! Please register.
  • Pennies & Piggy Banks: Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 pm for ages 6+. Money Smart Week is in April! Learn about money, practice paying and making change in our candy store, and decorate a piggy bank of your very own to take home and start saving your pennies. Please register.
  • Little Picassos: Friday, April 14 at 10:00 am for ages 2-4. Join us one Friday a month for a fun toddler art program. Please dress for a mess!
  • Flower/Color Play: Friday, April 14 from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. Let's explore and celebrate springtime by looking at and creating flowers and other explosions of color!
  • LEGO® Earthquake Challenge: Friday, April 14 at 2:00 pm for ages 5+ in the Community Room. Work together in teams to design and build a tall LEGO® tower that will stay standing when tested on our shake table!
  • Robots & Coding Workshop: Saturday, April 15 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. Join our favorite robotics volunteer Asa in using the library's robot collection. From coding, to racing, to following a path, robots are rad! Drop in at any time for this program.
  • LEGO® Time!: Monday, April 17 from 4:00 - 5:30 pm for ages 5+. Come build and play together using the library's large LEGO® collection!
  • Lily Pad Art: Tuesday, April 18 at 4:00 pm for ages 6+. Join us to make a beautiful mixed media work of art of a flowering lily pad using watercolor, tissue paper, and other materials.
  • Planet Earth Storytime & Sensory Table: Friday, April 21 at 10:00 am. Celebrate Mother Nature with a bilingual storytime and playtime with our sensory table.
  • Environmental Club: Friday, April 21 at 4:30 pm. Earth Day is near! Let's get together and roll up our sleeves to do a Main Street clean-up as an Environmental Club. Everyone is welcome. We will meet on the first floor.
  • Saturday Craft: Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 am. Join us every other Saturday morning for a craft.
  • Pajama Storytime: Thursday, April 27 at 6:00 pm for ages 3+. Come to the library in your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal! We'll read bedtime stories and do a craft together.
  • Cactus Storytime: Saturday, April 29 at 10:30 am. Join us for a prickly bilingual storytime!
